Front Porch Party

Bre at All Along Life's Path is doing a 'Get to know you' type thing. It's a little 'front porch party'. Everyone is supposed to add ten things about themselves. I decided to give it a try to, let me know in the comments if you do it too, I 'd love to read your 10!

1. I love to sleep in... because I'm a night owl!

2. I grew up in a VERY small country town in Colorado, but since then I have visited and lived in so many places and cities. Yet, I still feel like that small town country girl inside :)

3. I am very focused on my kids during this phase of life, but I do look forward to the time when they grow up...

4. I love rocks and fossils! I am a geologist, after all :)

5. I absolutely detest doing dishes. I will do almost anything to delay having to do the dishes...

6. I am a "shoe person" who loves shoes, but am most comfortable being barefoot- go figure!

7. I'm really not much of a TV or movie watcher. I would rather make something - with fabric, yarn or paper :)

8. My favorite scent is pine trees. It reminds me of camping and fishing trips in Colorado and Wyoming when I was a young girl.

9. If someone had told me earlier where/who I would be today, I would have laughed hysterically. But I am pleased with the journey.

10. Currently, I am addicted to Facebook and catching up with old friends!

Oh how I can relate to your number 9!! LOL It's amazing where our lives lead us and how happy we are with the journey and destination.

I don't like the dishes either.. but I will take them any day over the laundry!

Nice to learn some things about you...

Just stopping by to wish you a very Happy Monday - and I hope you'll have a great meal today;)

Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. One more person discovered! It was good timing to read your blog. I feel quite nosy really! I will try and fit one of these reveals in soon I think. So little time these days. I really don't like my life to be like this. I love time at home to do what I like with my girls or doing my own thing.

Nice to meet you!

#1 and 6 are me, too! Actually, I don't mind wearing shoes, but I like my toes to be free!

I can really relate to #9. In fact, Hubby & I were just talking about how much has changed from where we thought we'd be right now to where we ended up.

And I almost forgot (ugh I always do that) Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest:)

Thanks for visiting me on SITS Sharefest Saturday! Like you I love shoes and am focused on raising my kids right now - but also looking forward to when they "fly the nest". LOL! Enjoy the journey.

I love the smell of pine trees too especially when it filled the house at Christmas. I miss that smell since we went to the artificial trees.

Enjoy your SITS day!

I totally know what you mean about #9. My life path has veered considerably from the path I saw for myself most of my life, but in a good way. Thanks for letting us visit today, happy SITS day to you!

I love doing dishes. And like #9...I probably wouldn't have said that 20 years ago.
There's just something meditative about it all...plus I have a great view out the window above the kitchen sink:)

Is it hard to keep up with Facebook and a blog? That's what I'm afraid of.

Congrats on your SITS day!

I totally get you on the shoe thing! I love buying them, but wearing them, not so much!

{leah} said...

Do you clean bathrooms or put laundry away??? I'll trade you dishes for one of those! I love doing dishes. Bathrooms on the other hand...Let's just say I'm happy that the boys are abel to help!

Pine trees and Facebook! Two of life's great joys!!! And if someone would have told me where I would be today, I probably would have rolled my eyes and said "figures." Great post SITSta.

I can totally relate to being a country girl inside. I live a HUGE metroplex, but I still wave, smile and hold doors open.

I would still strike up conversations, if I wasn't afraid of getting creamed.

Funny about the shoes!!

My grandma lived in Pueblo, we used to go Bishop's Castle often.

I love the smell of the trees and the beauty of the mountains.

Addicted to Facebook too!

:-)

I totally agree about the shoes. I love, love, love them! But my favorite is to go barefoot, too! I think growing up in FL did that to me! Happy SITS!!

I am all of the others though...but esp a small town girl now matter where I am...I have to stop myself from doing things like it is a small town some times...it's dangerous. I loved your list though...My Hubby has been doing the dishes for years!! Thanks goodness!! Have a great SITS DAY!!

This was fun - a nice way to get to know a bit more about you.

Melanie said...

I'm with you on #1! I am most definitely a night owl as well.

Charlene said...

Greetings from SITS! I don't think I've ever met a geologist before. So cool!

I loved the name of this writing activity. I am also a night owl! I have no interest in being up in the morning and afternoon is my favorite part of the day. But all that goes away when you have kids. Now my afernoons have turned into mornings and I have had to learn to love coffee. *sigh* It's so adultish.
Stopping by from SITS to say congrats on being the Featured Blogger!

Ohh I like the front porch thing.. I remember being little in our small town of Ky and our family would gather at some relatives house for dinner and some music on the front porch.. could explain why I got the gift of song lol...

Kristin @ Meanbean said...

I so agree with #9 - I never imagined my life like it is today...and I wouldn't change one second of it!

I can relate to #6. I LOVE my shoes but as soon as I get home they are kicked off. ;)

Micha @ Cookin' Mimi said...

I agree wholeheartedly with your number 5. Matter of fact that's what I am doing now, avoiding the sink filled with dishes that are calling my name. Congrats on your SITS day.

You sound a lot like me, especially the yarn/fabric thing. Healthy addictions I call them!

This is a neat survey! I also love rocks and fossils... my favorite are the ammonites :).

I love this "get to know you feature". It sounds like you have a lot in common with many of the SITstas ~ myself included. Sleeping in? Yes! Every chance I get (which is rare these days with two lil' munchkins). The smell of pine, divine! Cheers! Jenn

Fun! I am borrowing this idea for my blog! Love your crafts...I am always too scared to try new stuff...which is so silly. Maybe I'll go to Michaels today and pick up something fun.

Happy SITS day!

I love to sleep in mostly because I'm just lazy!

I love the smell of pine, too. But, it has to be the real thing. Those imitations just never quite do it justice.

Sherri said...

I feel like I know you so much better:) I have finally convinced my husband to do the dishes. Yea! I'm working on laundry now. Hehe. And barefoot is my favorite.

Brandi said...

This is really a great post. And I love your attitude about #9. I think I would have stared at someone oddly had they told me I'd be where I am today too. And the coolest part is I still don't know where I'll end up.

Loving your blog.

I am so happy to have met you thru SITS. I can relate to you on more than one level! I only watch TV when I'm sewing.:-)

I'm a night owl too...too bad that doesn't work out so well with kids aged 3 and 1. They don't seem to care that I was up in the wee hours. I'm trying hard to be a morning person for the time being.

Anonymous said...

Popping in from SITS! Happy day in the spotlight!

I thought I was the only one who LOVED shoes so very much - but prefers to be barefoot.

I think it's because I am getting older and my feet can't keep up with me in heels!

What I hate about doing the dishes is emptying the dishwasher! I find it to be way more annoying than rinsing of dirty dishes and loading them.

Oh I'm SUCH a shoe person! My husband got me this shoe rack from Target to display my shoes on. Haha!

Also, you're a geologist? Neato! I loved geology in college. In fact, that was my original major until, well, life happened :-P Do you just love what you do?

Anonymous said...

I love being barefoot too, partly because I can never find shoes to fit my big feet :-p I love crafting, but these days it's harder for me to b/c I have a crawling baby around the house.

Happy SITS feature day!

It's always interesting to see the different answers to questionnaires like this.
I'm not a big fan of washing dishes, for instance!
I hope you're having a great feature day & thanks for posting your list!

I am such a nite owl, too! I'm up late every evening and it's just so hard to wake up in the morning.

I loved reading more about you, too!

Happy SITSday!

Oh yeah, doing dishes (especially by hand) is the worst! So gross.
